Mercyhurst University Campus Ministry creates a hospitable environment and a locus for spiritual development of the entire university community. By our grounding in the Catholic tradition and Mercy heritage we support all faith traditions, foster holistic, communal development, and nurture leadership focused in service and justice.
Campus Ministry offers a variety of retreats, fellowship groups, prayer and study groups, and opportunities for all students, regardless of previous faith background. These groups are lead predominately by student leaders- hear what they have to say about these ministries!
Tuesday Night Catholic Devotions is a great way to connect with others through the Catholic faith. We participate in traditional devotions such as recitation of the rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and Lectio Divina. This group has strengthened my faith in ways that I will be forever grateful for. Being surrounded by so many supportive young men and women who share in my beliefs has made all the difference for me since coming to Mercyhurst.” – Allie Schweiger
Wednesday Night Fellowship: This welcoming Christian community meets weekly on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. in the Prince of Peace Chapel. We strive to make faith relevant in the real world through speakers, small group interactions, and other engaging activities to encourage and grow each other’s faith.
The Carpe Diem Retreat is a weekend-long retreat open to Mercyhurst students of all backgrounds. It was one of the most impactful experiences I have had, not just at Mercyhurst, but in my life. I went on the retreat not really knowing anything about it, or any of the people going, and now I can say the people I am closest to two years later are the people I meant through the retreat.” –Nate Myers
MYRACLE (Mercyhurst Youth Retreats and Catholic Leader Education) is a student led ministry for Catholic students to share their faith and develop leadership skills through evangelization. We plan and lead retreats for youth and families in parishes across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. Being a leader in MYRACLE has provided me opportunities to share the light of Christ with other students, both on campus and through our retreats. I have grown more in love with the universality of the faith and I’ve learned a lot about myself as a young adult Catholic. I’ve met some of the most beautiful people through MYRACLE and I’m proud to call the other leaders my friends.” –Kayla Bravchok / student leaders can be reached at email@example.com. Thursday Night Bible Study focuses on bringing together students on campus who are passionate about growing in their faith. Each Thursday Night, students meet with their peers to dig deeper into the Bible by incorporating relative verses and watching a video series. Students are able to share their opinions and interpretations while learning more about how to integrate God's word in their daily lives. Thursday Night Bible Study welcomes individuals from all backgrounds to share their faith with others while learning valuable and relatable scripture.” – Kristina Croucher
Commuter Ministry provides an opportunity for commuter students to gather together and discuss the relevance of God’s word in today’s busy world. Meetings are held earlier in the day so students can be involved without having to drive back to campus. Being a commuter is a crazy ‘ride’ that all too often is an isolating and confusing experience. Our mission is to provide a safe space to relax, ask questions, and spend time in presence of those who share similar beliefs.” – Katie Swanson
Student Athlete Bible Study: “Student Athletes who have a strong faith are looking for ways to encourage and support one another in their faith journey. We meet weekly and push each other to grow in our faith as we wrestle with how to be faithful to God on our teams.” Morgan Stacey
Book Club: “Book club is a safe space where we can be vulnerable with one another and share our stories that connect to the book we are reading together.” Becca King
